Message from Gil: Set Your Lawn Up for a Strong Summer

Message from Gil

As we enter the peak of the summer season, I would like to take a moment to share several important updates regarding the health and maintenance of your lawn.

This year, we are seeing an increase in turf disease activity across Virginia. Conditions have been favorable for the development of red thread, brown patch, and dollar spot – all of which can significantly impact lawn quality if not addressed promptly. If you are currently enrolled in our Premium Lawn Care Program and have observed signs of disease, we encourage you to consider upgrading to our Estate Program, which provides enhanced protection through more advanced disease control measures.

Additionally, proper mowing and watering practices remain critical during the summer months. We recommend maintaining a mowing height of 3.5 to 4 inches and ensuring mower blades are kept sharp to avoid unnecessary stress on the turf. For watering, apply 1 to 1.5 inches per week, ideally in the early morning hours to promote absorption and minimize the risk of disease.

Another concern at this time of year is grub activity. While grubs are common in many lawns, higher populations can result in significant root damage and turf thinning. Early identification is key. If you would like assistance in assessing potential grub activity, our team is available to conduct an evaluation and recommend appropriate treatment if necessary.

At Virginia Green, we are committed to helping you achieve and maintain a healthy, thriving lawn. Should you have any questions or require additional support, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for choosing Virginia Green. We appreciate your continued trust in our services and wish you a successful and enjoyable summer season.

Warm regards,
